Life on Catalina Island is full of rich history, which can be seen in many of the buildings and landmarks that dot the
town of Avalon
Catalina’s history spans time from the small villages of the Gabrieliño Indians, through Spanish then Mexican occupation.
During one period Catalina even became a haven for smuggling. Closer to the present was purchase of the Catalina Island in
1919 by Mr. William Wrigley, the chewing gum millionaire.

The landmark casino on the waterfront that he constructed is a must see for all visitors.
